British Geological Survey (NERC)

National Environmental Research Council (NERC) Is a Government agency that deals with multiple facets of the environment both within the UK and abroad. British Geological Survey (NERC) is a division within the NERC. The headcount fluctuates depending on project needs, ranging from 700 to over 1000 staff.

Problem

BGS went to tender to find supplier for a new requirement for a newly constructed site at Edinburgh’s Herriott Watt University. The initial requirement was for a new IP PBX with 220 handsets, mobile solutions and a total SIP solution running over the JANET network. They also had the specification that the solution could be over time rolled out and replicated to other sites

Solution

As a JANET certified supplier and being able to provide bespoke SIP solutions, SCB Global were able to meet and exceed BGS requirements with this project and became the preferred supplier to deliver the solution. As it was a new site , SCB Global was approved as a specialist contractor within the main construction project. SCB Global replaced BGS’ old ISDN connections with SIP connectivity and upgraded the telephony estate hardware with our enterprise IP PBX and SNOM IP Dect phones. SCB Global also provided additional resilience to the solution to ensure that there would be an automatic failover in the unlikely event of a disaster scenario

Results

The solution provided by SCB Global was delivered within the designated timescale, which was vitally important being an integral part of an overall construction project. The delivered solution has brought substantial reduction in costs to BGS since it has been implemented and dramatically improved the efficiency of the telephony usage and better connectivity on BGS’s mobile telephony usage.
Since the successful implantation of the Edinburgh site, SCB Global have replicated and rolled out the solution to other BGS sites as and when required. In the beginning of 2017 the Cardiff Office based in the Cardiff University was upgraded to the solution and most recently In February 2018 SCB have been replicating the solution on a much larger scale in the Keyworth site. Each project has different needs and requirements which SCB are able to make sure are met within the delivery of the solution but overall it means that eventually all of the BGS telephony estate across all of the offices will be upgraded to the new solution.

H Clarksons

Is the world’s leading provider of integrated shipping services headquartered in London, bringing experience to an international client base.

Problem

SCB were initially asked assist H Clarkson’s on a very niche requirement for International Numbering in EMEA and USA region that would allow the business to show a local presence in these regions whilst being physically based out in London. Since the original requirement and as new offices opened in Europe there was a further requirement for a SIP trunk solution and geographical numbers in multiple European locations.

Solution

Through Tier 1 partners in various European destinations, SCB Global was able to provide H Clarkson with the international numbering and local presence that was required for the business.

Over the years, SCB has expanded their business with H Clarkson’s by providing a bespoke solution for SIP trunks and geographical numbers as the requirement has come up for different European Offices. SCB Global were also able to give H Clarkson additional resilience and failover which was imperative to ensure that there is no downtime of services. In one such solution that covered the requirement for a local breakout to their Rotterdam we also provided failover back to their London office with resilience of additional failover SIP trunks.

Results

H Clarkson are able to take advantage of SCB’s flexible approach to providing solutions by being proactive in addressing requirements as they come up. The scalability within the solution gives H Clarkson the opportunity to look into each requirement separately but also for it to seamlessly connect to the existing operating model anywhere globally .Discussions are currently under away to add a local break out for their New York office

Moneycorp

Is an award winning Foreign exchange and payment services business, servicing customers since 1979. Moneycorp started off as one office in London and has since grown into a successful international company with satellite offices dotted around in different parts of the Europe, US & APAC (TBC)

Problem

Since growing from a single office based in London Moneycorp required a solution that could reflect the growth in the business and overhaul the existing services that were struggling to cope with the additional Offices and all of the needs and requirements each one brings. Moneycorp wanted to modernise the current services and find a vendor that could source and deliver a disparate data connectivity and voice outbound SIP solution to the European Offices

Solution

Through Tier 1 partners in various European destinations, SCB Global was able to provide Moneycorp with a bespoke solution that delivered the services and seamlessly connected all of the offices. Being a financial organisation, SCB Global understood the requirement for high availability and quality of service that is optimal for a smooth operation of the business.

SCB added in additional layers of resilience with back up lines to ensure that Moneycorp would have continuity of services if a disaster scenario was to occur. SCB worked closely with the Moneycorp’s infrastructure team on a solution that concentrated on a phased roll out of a system upgrade for the European offices in the EMEA region and streamlined the system/infrastructure for their UC requirements and to enable a complete upgrade of the telephony environment to a next generation voice network over a single vendor voice platform (Cisco).

Results

The collaborated solution provided by SCB Global enabled all of the designated European Offices office’s to seamlessly connect under the one solution, with all the services provided being fully managed by SCB Global it has taken away the complexity and time consumed in trying to manage the services themselves. There has been a substantial reduction in costs since the solution has been implemented SCB Global ensured that the solution is fully scalable to be able to incorporate future global locations as and when required by Moneycorp and we are currently waiting to roll out the same operating model for new offices.
